Keyword Marketing Tools, Tips and Resources
What is Keyword Marketing?
Keyword Marketing the term used to describe how advertisers search for and apply common search phrases, as they pertain to their website.
For example, McDonald's will research what hamburger lovers are searching for on the Web, then they'll strategically add the search terms (keywords) to their website. Once added, McDonald's will wait for the search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo!, etc) to re-evaluate their site. If done correctly, McDonald's will now be listed on the 1st page, and maybe 1st place, in the search engine's result page (SERPS).
Keyword Marketing Tools
WordTracker
There are several good keyword marketing tools available online. The oldest, and still our favorite, is WordTracker. WordTracker uses META-Search data to get a fairly accurate idea of the number of users searching for a particular term or word.
If you signup with WordTracker, you'll have access to their search database and to very useful keyword marketing tools. WordTracker not only shows you approximately how many people are searching for your specific term, it also shows you how many other websites come up in the results for those words; so you can get an idea of the competition.
Along with search term numbers and competitor figures, WordTracker will also calcuate what it calls the Keyword Effectiveness Index (KEI). This KEI can help you choose terms that have more searches and less competition.

Most keyword marketing pros use Yahoo!'s KWST to get a general feel for the number of people searching for a particular term. The numbers, however, are a bit inaccurate due to the fact that Yahoo! Search Marketing condenses plurals &, including the plural of a keyword marketing term into the search results.
In most cases, you'll find Yahoo!'s KWST results to be significantly higher than Overture.
